Who was the customer?

Shikellamy School District in Sunbury, Northumberland County, PA  http://www.shikbraves.org/ is located in the heart of the Susquehanna Valley and offers the area the finest educational facilities and faculty.

What was the problem?

Installed in 2007 by another Duro-Last contractor, the nylon augers used to mechanically attach the Duro-Last roof were starting to come loose.  Manchester Roofing Systems was asked by Duro-Last to investigate the problem and determined that the auger threads did not fully engage the lightweight concrete deck and had an average fastener withdraw pull-test strength of only 100 LB.

What is the repair?

Manchester Roofing Systems did the pull-tests  that should have been done by the original contractor  and was able to achieve a withdraw strength of 200 LB by using #14 screws.  The low-slope roof was extremely dirty because the roof structure was specifically designed for ballasted EPDM with the drains not set at the low points so as to retain water to help cool the original black and stone roof.  After the roof was carefully pressure washed, each seam was re-fastened 6” OC and covered by new Duro-Last membrane.
